Milan Fashion Week: when and where
On 18th February 2023 the fashion capital of Italy opens its runway to one of the most awaited moments in the international fashion system. From Marni and Roberto Cavalli to Dsquared² and Bulgari, prepare for an exciting fashion week with the forthcoming Fall/Winter collections in one of Italy’s trendiest cities.
Taking place between 20th and 26th February 2024, there is still time to make the trip and here is what you need to know.
First of all, Milan Fashion Week is a very exclusive affair. In order to get your hands on tickets for the catwalk shows you have to register for accreditation as a buyer or press from the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.
Known for being a hub for high fashion, Milan hosts over 150 shows, events and presentations. Aside from the standard showrooms, many shows are held in outdoor venues, like very central Piazza del Duomo, Arco della Pace, located in Parco Sempione, the most central park of Milan, and the courtyard of 15th-century Castello Sforzesco, which offer more space and the chance for the audience to be part of the show.

The streets in Italy’s fashion capital are buzzing as the crowd arrives to see the latest creations of Prada, Gucci, Roberto Cavalli, Moschino, Versace and Giorgio Armani, as well as emerging designers. This is a great occasion for fashion designers to show their ready-to-wear collections to buyers and press, who will review them and start placing orders for their stores. These shows are a season ahead, in order to get an idea of the demand for the collection for sale in stores.
During Milan Fashion Week, it is easy to see stylish celebrities, fashion journalists and successful global influencers the likes of Anna Dello Russo, Chiara Ferragni and Alexa Chung around showrooms like Marcona3, near Piazza Cinque Giornate, and White in Via Tortona, near Porta Genova. So, you are in for a treat doing all the celebrity spotting.
The best and trendiest neighborhoods and districts to hang out for style inspiration and get street styled during Fashion Week are definitely Brera, famous for its artistic charm, and the Navigli area, from Porta Genova to the spectacular Columns of San Lorenzo. Shopping in Milan during Fashion Week
One of the most influential cities in fashion, Milan is the perfect place to shop for designer clothes, shoes and accessories.
Main shopping streets include:
- Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the spectacular 19th-century shopping arcade that connects Piazza del Duomo with Piazza della Scala, with a lot of high-end stores;
- Via Dante, between the Duomo and the Sforza Castle;
- Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, between the Duomo and Piazza San Babila;
- the Quadrilatero d’Oro, Italy’s high-fashion hub: it’s an area bound by four elegant thoroughfares, Via Montenapoleone, Via Senato, Via Manzoni and Via del Corso, crossed by boutique-laden streets, including world-famous Via della Spiga. Here is where you will find flagship stores of the biggest names in Italian fashion;
- Corso Buenos Aires has less expensive shops and chain stores, most of them open on Sundays.
Milan has very good public transportation, including buses, trams and a fast and extensive Metro system. Bikes and taxis are great to get around too.
